A Samhain Blessing

May the benevolent walk freely among us as they did in life

May they give us guidance and tranquility

May they allow us to feel their presence and humble us such that we are ready to receive their blessings

May they be joyful and merry and return to their realm peacefully and with ease when the time to be on this plain has passed

May they grant us the ability to lift the veil with ease such that we may once more embrace our loved ones, as if it is the last time we will ever see them again

May they watch over us until the veil may be lifted once again, may they know our love for them will never fade

May the candlelight that is their memory never flicker and burn out

May we be reminded to care for ourselves as we would care for them

May we honor their memories with celebration and joy, not sadness and grief.

May we remember that death is not the end, but merely an unavoidable part of life that we must go through for our souls to grow and ascend

May the spirits of our late loved ones be with us through the night, and may they visit our dreams so we may see them once more, even for just a few moments

May we forgive those that we love who have passed on for their transgressions in life

May their spirits bless us with lucky and prosperity for the upcoming year

May the blessed travel in peace and harmony this Samhain, and may they never struggle to find their way home.

Anonymous asked:

Can I use magick inspired by Romani magick if it’s not actual, straight-out Romani culture or is that cultural appropriation?

witches-ofcolor answered:

DX To my understanding, any association with Romani people and magic is racist and inaccurate in itself, so I don’t think this is appropriate. That said, I”m not Romani so I can’t necessarily say yes or no.

If you’re Romani, please feel free to add on!

*waves* Hey, Roma here (it actually says my nationality is Roma on my birth certificate, but besides the point), I can help answer this.

In all honesty, if you use the term “witch” or “Witchcraft” in many Roma circles, you’re met with glares and disdain. If you use the word “witch” in Romani circles, many see that as a way of calling someone a cannibal who eats children. It’s considered a huge insult to a lot of Roma.

The Roma did NOT do magic. Any kind of “fortune telling” was done (scrying, reading palms, reading tea leaves, tarot cards, etc.) SOLELY as a way to get money out of people. In many areas (EVEN TODAY), it was (or is) flat out illegal for Roma to be hired by local businesses. Because of that, they were FORCED to steal and con people out of money, just to put food on the table and feed themselves and/or their family.
